My name's Daryl. I played Jim Hawkins in Theater Down South's 2009 production of Prince Street Players's Treasure Island. This blog was originally meant to document the show's run, but is now moving on like I am, and will follow me as I continue to do this crazy job. Stick around, and I hope you find something of interest here. Get in touch!
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
The wing is one of my favorite spots on the stage (apart from onstage itself). When actors aren’t going onstage or offstage via the fly system or onstage trapdoors, we use the wings as our entry and exit points. The wing is also where we wait for cues offstage while we try to stay out of the sight lines of the audience, and in some cases where a quick change is necessary, the place we designate as our dressing rooms.
This picture of the left wing with the lock rail was taken during our company’s very first production week in the Insular Life Theater in Alabang. I took this while I was sitting onstage, while the actress playing Hermia (the blur you see there on the left) was talking to our director, who was sitting in a house seat.
